ARCHITECTURE

I feel so electrified when I see beautiful architectures. As we all know, architecture helps beautiful
the environment in which we live. It makes a place well organized and planned. My uncle made me
love architecture because he was an architect. I have a lot of experience in life and architecture is
part. My uncle always take me along with him when he gets a contract with a company. I watch him
and his employers whenever they are working on the site. I always wonder how architect makes
architecture and unfortunately, I found out that architecture is made. Moreover architecture became

part of me. Firstly, before we begin architecture, we sketch the plan of the building on paper to know
how the building will look like before we begin to build. I noticed why some buildings get destroyed
and the reason is that, there isn't enough cement when they make concrete for the building. in my
country, we use cement, sand nd wood in architecture. It really takes more time before an architecture
can be constructed. I have been to some famous building in my country which are very nice.
The first time I saw the Flag Staff House which is a place where the Ghana President lives, I felt so

dinary.
I promised myself that I will build a similar house such as that. In addition, I have been to the
National Theatre in Ghana which is in a triangular form. It is really a beautiful building and it was
built in 1992.Image result for national theatre ghana

I felt like I am in heaven when I entered inside the building. The place was more than home, and I
really liked the place.
What I have learnt in chapter 13 is that, architecture is beautiful and it is n different form and
structure.

PUBLIC ART
CLOUD GATE

Finally, on the April 26th, I went to the cloud gate by the artist called Anish Kapoor in 2004 with Jenel. There were a lot of people at the cloud gate. I was so excited to see the artwork because it was fun there. The artwork looks like an egg and it was made with stainless steel.

PUBLIC ART
AGORA

In addition, on my way home, I saw the Agora by Magdalena Abakonwicz in the 2006, that is eleven years ago. It is located at Michigan Ave at Roosevelt Rd. The artwork is a sculpture, and it is a very tall and huge. I got scared and shocked when I got closer to the artwork. The artwork shows different direction of walking. I thought the artwork was made with wood. but it was like iron.

PUBLIC ART
FLAMINGO

Thirdly, I was going to my mom's place, on my way going, I saw the Flamingo which is also located at Dearborn and Adams street by the artist called Alexander Calder in the year 1914. This artwork is an abstract and a sculpture. It is also red in color which marks for danger. I stood there quietly watching this artwork because I didn't know what it is, so I was trying to figure what the artwork is.

ART 21
Theaster Gates refers art as the ability to see people and potential inside to help imagine that the would we're living is just today's consideration. He likes clay because is something that nobody thinks about. He grew up in Chicago. He didn't know he had skills and talent until he stated using materials. When he started using clay, the contemporary art became interested in his work. He's interested in what sound track is, and loves gospel song. He also worked in UIC in 2006 and bought a new house at the same time at Dorchester. He rebuilt an empty house that was next to his house, and he bought his third building for album collection in 2009. He says when art is present, we should do it well for to have show to be creative. His vision for art work is a vision that really does not have boundaries.

MCA
MCA, this is the museum of contemporary art. I have been to about five to six museums, and among all, MCA is the museum I loved most. Most of the artworks are representational and realistic as well. The artwork expresses emotion and it also talks about the social and cultural aspect of life, especially the artwork about the youth. Fountain of youth states that youth is not just an age group but a state of mind, and is really true. It portraits recreational sex and drug use amongst teens and sense of light heartedness.

In addition, I loved the artwork by George Brecht which is a chair event. The chair event means a tool for sharpening our perception of everyday visual experiences. It needs a kind of attention that every artwork has. The colors of the button leg of the chair have a meaning to get attention from people. The colors have primary and secondary colors.

Moreover, I loved Rei Kawakubo Costumes. The consumes are unique with bright and attractive colors.

Also, I was surprised when I saw a potato that is moving because I have never seen one before.

I felt so excited when I saw a cute lovely door with a room inside.

I felt like I was home when I was at the museum because the contemporary arts are unique and extraordinary.

REFLECTION STUDENT ART EXHIBIT
We went to student art exhibit and it is a very small and spacious place. I loved all the artwork but the artwork that stood up to me most is Hai Mink and Eric's Engagement. This type of work is a stone lithography. The artwork explains the important of having a happy family and is a great thing to have. I chose this artwork because I love to make a peaceful always. The artwork is representational, and I like how it is designed.

Art 21

BARBARA KASTE:

Art is a determination she made because she likes making things. She likes to live in Chicago because it is a place of art. She said photographing is recording life in general but to her, it was an experimental medium. Her first photography was made in 1978. She uses light and camera to capture artwork because it records something as having object. Also, she likes the idea of questioning and making discovery such as using light to capture particles which can't be seen. The reason why she still likes art is that, it is a process which is all about living and doing, it is fabulous and horrible.

A strong clear vision by Maya Lin was one of the most painful disagreement public movement in American history. Maya Lin's strong clear vision describes Lin as she works one variety of projects, deals with issues such as world peace with her designs for the peace chapel of Pennsylvanian's Juniata college and race relations at the civil rights memorial. She created the southern poverty law center in Montgomery, Alabama.
It also features a condition behind the scene footage of Lin at work in her studio, offering viewers a favor brief look into the minds of this singular artist. When Morris Dees approached her to design a memorial for civil rights, she said she wanted to understand conceptually what the piece is about or what nature should be before visiting the site. As she continues to deal with controversial topics, Lin bravely explains new aesthetic territory, focusing art and ideas to create more provocative works.

Most of the artwork are representational and few are abstract. My group members and I like a sculpture art and a decorative art, but the artwork we liked most was the decorative art by Kehinde Wiley. He is a portrait painter who is known for his highly naturalistic paintings of people with brown skin in heroic poses. His artworks are representational and realistic. The form of the artworks are seen, the contour and the subjects matter of the artwork.

Maya Lin

Maya Lin: A Strong Clear Vision

A film which elaborates the career and of a young Chinese American architect, Maya Lin.
It commenced with an existing start of her career as an architect with the designing and creation of the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial in the United States.
This film focused on the arguments that surrounded the architectural design of the War Memorial. This elegant design, a national memorial honors U.S. service members of the U.S. armed forces who fought in the Vietnam War and all other issues circulating the war.
Maya Lin then goes to embark on the creation of several other special pieces including the memorial for Slain Civil Rights workers, a house, the Civil Rights Fountain Memorial commemorating women at Yale City, and a variety of sculptures including a self - portrait made in lead and beeswax.
Despite the controversies surrounding her design and creation, Maya Lin goes through a fascinating process of turning her "strong clear vision" into substantive form.

Blog # 4

1. Repeat : we went to the cultural center to visit an exhibit of doors by Eugene Eda and Hey You exhibit.

React : I saw a lot of artworks and they all have a meaning. At the Hey You exhibition, I saw a train passing around an area and at the center, there were houses, cars, aeroplane, and many people. I loved it because it was so real. What surprised me was children on the television who can't talk and were singing.

Reflect : Most of the artworks are representational and just few are abstract. Some of the artworks are made with primary colors and secondary colors, some are drawn with lines.

2. The exhibits are representational. I like the artwork of the muslim woman with the scarf around the head and the neck, the artwork is representational. The scarf on her head is a form of pattern and is very nice. The artist should have made the background representable as well, although, it is somehow clear but not that clear. Why did the artist use more colors on the face.

Title: happy with American.
I pictured a person praising America for winning a football match. And I used the primary and the secondary colors and additional of black.

A cup: this is a cup made with lines. This image is representational  because anybody can see is a cup. I used three different lines in making the cup.

Delete image: this image is also made by lines. It is also representational, I made this image with light straight lines and thick straight lines.
